Barack and Foreign Policies

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2007/11/20/obama_foreign/

In this article, Barack Obama approaches several different topics. The most interesting topic he touches down on is how he will handle foreign situations and how his personal background helps him understand and interact with other countries differently than other candidates. Obama comments that it will be a milestone in US history if he is voted our next president seeing as he has family in Kenya which allows him to relate to people in other countries, unlike many past presidents or other running candidates.
Obama also touches down on his views on war. He sets his position as he will protect our country when he needs to, but is not going looking for some one to fight with. He makes knows that we obviously cannot take the idea of arms off the table, and that Iran has to change their way of thinking, but he sees the way of approaching war differently. Obama sees war with Iran as a topic to discuss fully before making any rash decisions. In the article he said that he is the only candidate to look at it like this which, to me, is shocking that no one else would take the mature route and come to talk out problems rather than resort straight to war. Obama also states that he has a detailed outline as to what he would say if he were to go talk to them which shows preparation and confidence in himself.
Obama is making himself appear as a peaceful candidate, siding with many views of people. He is making his points clear but more on a peaceful level. He suggests that there are supporters from each side that are supporting him, while many people would believe that this certain group of people would support another candidate in the running. This article would be a very useful article for people trying to side with a certain candidate, considering several topics are discussed, the article is clear and helpful.
