Iraq and Iran

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/foreignpolicy/

Obama said that he will immediately begin to bring our troops home from Iraq. He will bring a couple troops home a month, and have all of the combat brigades out of Iraq in 16 months. I support Obama intentions of bringing the troops home, but I do not think it is going to be possible to do it in 16 months. He says he will keep some troops in Iraq to protect the embassy and diplomats. There are many problems in Iraq today and I do not think that it is possible to just start pulling out our troops. Obama plans on making Iraq’s leaders to take responsibility for their future by making it clear that we are leaving. “Obama will engage representatives from all levels of Iraqi society – in and out of government – to seek a new accord on Iraq's Constitution and governance.” This meeting will be a convention where the United Nations will be in charge of. I like the idea; I just do not see how it will actually happen.

The main problem in Iran is the nuclear weapons. Iran also supports militias inside Iraq and terror across the region. The leaders have threatened countries with a nuclear war. Obama believes that there are more options in confronting Iran then starting a war. There are ways to settle the argument and have good communication so that there are no misunderstandings. Obama thinks it is time to change Iran’s” troubling behavior”, by presenting the Iranian regime a choice, if they decide to abandon the nuclear weapons and their support for terrorism, the United States will offer a membership into the World Trade Organizations. It is nice to see that Obama is trying to get out of a nuclear war, and not taking the military way of fighting battles. He is using persuasion to have Iran change their ways.
