Obama's Foreign Policy

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/2008-presidential-candidates/issues/candidates/barack-obama/#iraq

Obama’s view on Iraq is very simple, he is totally against it. He opposed this war since the war has begun. Obama believes that the soldiers are in a dangerous situation everyday and have to sacrifice for us if this war continues. He also believes that withdrawal of the soldiers is the best way to end this war. I agree with Obama on his position of the Iraq war today. Obama’s plan for Iraq distinguishes from Clinton and McCain because he would begin to withdraw soldiers immediately under his plan. I think Obama can gain people’s attention of those who know someone involved with Iraq War today. For instance, my cousin is in Iraq right now, and my aunt and uncle worry about him constantly and just hope the withdrawal or the war ends sometime soon. So I know my aunt and uncle would not mind Obama as the new president if he can keep his words. At the same time, people who were affected by 911 incidents, they might think keeping our troops in Iraq is the only way to keep such incidents from occurring. Obama sees Hussein as a “brutal and ruthless” person, but he is not a threat to this world today.
Obama was very disappointed how comprehensive immigration reform was not passed by the congress. Obama states that there are too many undocumented immigrants, which makes our nation less safe. Obama discusses how he will work hard to pass comprehensive reform to protect the nation and borders. He also claims that the immigrants are welcomed as long as “they work hard and play by the rules.” I like Obama’s view on Immigration, especially how the immigrants are welcomed as long as they follow the rules and are documented. I agree with him that illegal immigrants can be a threat to our nation because they can take some of our jobs away and get paid illegally. To conclude, Obama’s top three priorities regarding Immigration include achieving comprehensive immigration reform, develop a electronic system that would verify the legal status of all employees, and to fine all the illegal immigrants and give them a chance to become a U.S. citizen. I believe that Obama will gain a lot of popularity from the immigrant in U.S.
