Obama on Gun Control

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/15/candidates.guns/index.html?iref=newssearch

In this article, Barrack Obama had made a statement about how small-town Pennsylvanians are “bitter” because they “cling to guns and religion”. This statement happened to bring up the issue of Gun Control and The Second Amendment.

When Barrack Obama was asked about his views on The Second Amendment and Gun control he showed his support. Obama’s views on the issues of guns are similar to Clintons. He would restrict the purchases of guns to one per month. He also wants to renew the assault weapons ban, which is prohibition on selling certain semi-automatic assault weapons to civilians. Another thing that senator Obama supports is “the national law against carrying a concealed weapon, with the exceptions for retired police and military personnel”. Senator Obama promises that he will protect the Second Amendment. The National Rifle Association gave a letter grade to all of the candidates on their gun policies. They gave Clinton and Obama an F, and McCain a C+.

I feel that senator Obama’s views on Gun Control and the Second Amendment are very supportive and strong. I believe that senator Obama has the correct ideas and plans to reduce the crime and murder rate in the United States. The fact that he wants to reduce the sale of guns to one a month could have a huge impact because it will reduce the number of guns on the streets. Also extending the assault weapons ban will keep high powered weapons off of the streets and out of the hands of criminals. Although the National Rifle Association gave senator Obama an F on his policies, I disagree because I feel that he has the right ideas to clean up the problems we have with guns in the United States.

the gangsters in the USA will still have ak-47s and the cops will still be out gunned because gangsters dont buy their guns at the corner gun store owned some good ole boy. most of them cant legally carry a pocket knife much less purchase a firearm legally. most of them are probably felons. anyway there criminals! they dont care what laws you make! a ban on assault weapons wont affect them at all. they break the law as a way of life. it wont matter what bans you put into affect criminals will still have guns, as many and big as they want. so how will a ban on assault weapons a nation wide prohibition on concealed weapons permits lower crime rates? anybody
