End War NOW!

This is a response to Barack Obama's stance on the war in Iraq. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/foreignpolicy/#iraq
Many people will agree with Barrack Obama when it comes to ending the war in Iraq. The war in Iraq has been going on too long and most people don’t understand why we are still over there fighting a “pointless war.” In the few years that we have been there nothing has been accomplished except for a loss of lives. The Iraqi war is similar to the Korean and Vietnam wars it seems to be no end in sight until things get worst and the death toll of American troops rises, but Obama is wants to end the war before that happens.
Obama has a strategic 16 month plan to withdraw troops from Iraq that I believe can be very successful. He is not withdrawing all the troops at one time and I think that is a smart move because it could cause a backlash from Al’ Queda if all the troops were gone. American’s who have family in Iraq will be happy and relieved that their love ones are coming home and the United States economy will also benefit from the war ending. The U.S. military is spending millions maybe billions of dollars to fund the Iraq war and that is putting a dent in America’s wallet. Many people say we are in a “recession” but never put the blame on the recession/budget deficit on the war. A nice chunk of money is going to the war and no one never questioned how much or cared enough to find out.
In ending the war Obama wants to send $2 billlion to help aid Iraqui refugees. He feels it America’s moral duty to help Iraq humanitarian issues. How can we help another country with their problems when we are not helping the people in America? The U.S. government is so willing to help other countries but forget to help the people in America. There are a lot of problems in America when it comes to poverty and poverty could decrease if the money spent overseas was spent here because we dish out a lot of money. In the past the U.S. has had trouble trying to aide other countries (Korea & Vietnam wars) because contrary to what the U.S.’s thinks (they need are help) these countries do not want help. They want to deal with their problems on their own, but the U.S. wants to play big brother to these other countries and continuously runs into the same problem. There has not been one successful act in which the United States has fully turned a nation around. We cannot help others if we first do not help ourselves.
