Obama and oil/environment

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/energy/

“Well, I don’t believe that climate change is just another issue that’s convenient to bring up during a campaign. I believe it’s one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation. That’s why I reached across the aisle to come up with a plan to raise our fuel standards.” One of America’s current issues includes that fact that we spend $1.4 billion per day. Along with this problem, there are issues with climate change. Due to this trees are blooming earlier, glaciers are melting quicker and eventually several species will become extinct.
Obama’s future plans include reducing carbon emissions by 80 percent by the year 2050. In order for this to happen, Obama is supporting a market based cap and trade system that requires all pollution credits to be auctioned. The revenue that is made by auctioning allowances will then be used to support the development of clean energy. Obama will invest $150 billion over a ten year period of time to advance with the next generation of biofuels and fuel transportation.
Obama’s plan for oil independence includes reducing oil consumption to at least 10 million barrels a day as opposed to our current 20 million by the year of 2030. His plan will make it so auto plants and parts manufacturers build new fuel-efficient cars rather than overseas companies.
Obama seems to have a lot of great ideas for America’s environment. I feel confident that if he will be able to carry out a lot of his plans. They seem very possible and will make a drastic difference for the economy and for the environment.
